Youth Soccer Evangelism

“The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow”

Nelson Mandela

Soccer is the most powerful outreach tool for the Church as a means of evangelism and discipleship in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Soccer serves as a platform to engage young people in teaching them the value of character such as teamwork, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship while at the same time sharing with them the all important Gospel message, the good news of salvation.

Soccer brings the communities together and fosters a sense of belonging and community spirit. The organization of sports camps focus on children and youth who might not otherwise attend church-related events. These camps include Bible studies, prayer sessions, and Christian teaching around God’s Word.

Hope for Congo desires young people in America to consider participating in mission trips that involve playing soccer with their counterparts in the DRC,  providing opportunities to build relationships, share the gospel, and provide assistance to those in need.

Incorporating soccer into the church’s evangelism efforts requires careful planning.  It’s important to have dedicated leaders who understand both soccer and the larger mission. The goal is to maintain a balance between sports activities and spiritual growth ensuring that soccer serves as a tool.
